YAWATA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO., LTD. was founded in 1951 as a manufacturing company for industrial display, power supply for vehicle equipment, voltage transformer etc.
In the following year, we developed a distributed system, that became the basis of today’s in-train public-address (PA).This PA system was adopted by private railway companies, and after Japanese National Railways certified our in train PA system standard, YAWATA’s product was deployed across Japan, contributing to the safety, security, and comfort of the railway.
The technologies provided to Shinkansen so far are: (1) “Train on-board PA and Intercom System” that supports safe railway operation by reliable communication of information (Passenger PA function and inter-crew intercom) , (2) “Automatic PA System” that supports passenger services (automatic passenger announcements in multiple languages such as English, Chinese, Korean and other languages), and (3) “Train on-board Communications System”, which enables on-board PA, inter-crew intercom and emergency alert communications by Smart Phone so that train crew can immediately respond to troubles that may occur while on patrol in trainset without having to return to the crew’s room.
For overseas markets, YAWATA’s products such as PA, Intercom, automatic PA, and Emergency Alarm Systems complying with EU standards, etc., have been adopted for high-speed rail in the UK, and we have provided local support for these systems. YAWATA is currently focusing on sales activities so that the company can deliver the products to high-speed rail projects under consideration in various countries and we will be seeking adoption of our products by high speed rolling stock in overseas.
